How it works
How Selling Gold Works at Thirumala
What happens from your first call to the final decision, and exactly which documents to bring.
The process
Know What Happens Before You Visit.
Step 1: Tell Us What You Have
Call, WhatsApp or request a valuation online. Share what you would like to sell, or the details of gold you have pledged.
Step 2: Gold Purity and Weight Assessment
At the branch, your gold is weighed and its purity is checked on a gold testing machine.
Step 3: Review the Explained Valuation
We walk you through the tested purity, net gold weight, the rate applied and any applicable deductions.
Step 4: Decide How to Proceed
Accept the offer, compare it with another quote, or take your gold home. The decision is always yours.
Each step in detail
1. Tell us what you have
Call, message us on WhatsApp, request a valuation on this website or simply walk into a branch. Tell us what you would like to sell — or, for pledged gold, the lender and loan details. Calling first also lets you check the day’s rate and confirm what to bring.
2. Gold purity and weight assessment
At the branch, KYC is completed using your documents (see below). Your gold is then weighed and its purity is checked using a gold testing machine. Stones and other non-gold parts are not counted as gold.
3. Review the explained valuation
We walk you through the valuation: the tested purity, the net gold weight, the rate applied and any applicable deductions. If you have a quote from another buyer, bring it — we’ll explain how ours compares. Ask as many questions as you like.
4. Decide how to proceed
Accept the offer and the transaction goes ahead, with payment made after KYC is complete — bank transfer is available. If you would rather not proceed, you are under no obligation to sell.
Releasing pledged gold?
The process has a few extra steps: the outstanding loan and interest are settled with your lender by bank transfer, the released gold is valued, and the balance is paid to you. Read the full pledged gold release process.

FAQ
Questions about the process
What documents should I bring?
You must be over 18 and the owner of the gold. Bring the original purchase invoice if you have it. If you do not have the invoice, bring any two documents that together show your photo ID and current residential address — for example Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, driving licence, voter ID, ration card, bank passbook or statement, electricity or telephone bill, or property documents. KYC is verified with these documents.
How is the purity of my gold checked?
Purity is checked using a gold testing machine rather than crude methods such as rubbing the gold on a stone. You are welcome to ask our team to explain the testing process and the result.
Do I have to sell once my gold is valued?
No. The valuation is explained to you first, and you decide whether to proceed.
Do you verify the ownership of gold?
Yes. Selling stolen gold is a criminal offence. KYC and background checks may be carried out to verify the customer's identity and address, and suspicious transactions are reported to the police.
Can I enquire before visiting a branch?
Yes — call +91 90086 78434, message us on WhatsApp, or use the enquiry form and our team will call you back.
The gold price challenge
Think you got a better offer?
Don’t take our word for it. Bring your offer and compare the valuation.
Step 1: Your offer
Bring the quote you’ve received from another buyer, if you have one.
Step 2: Thirumala valuation
We test the purity, weigh the net gold and apply the day’s rate — explained line by line.
Step 3: Compare
Put the two side by side, ask anything, then decide. There’s no obligation to sell.
The final valuation follows the physical assessment of your gold and our applicable buying terms.
