What a gold valuation tells you
A valuation turns a piece of jewellery into three clear facts — how pure the gold is, how much gold there actually is, and what that gold is worth at the rate applied on the day. Once you know those, comparing offers and making a decision becomes straightforward.
What we assess
Purity
Purity is checked on a gold testing machine rather than by rubbing your gold on a stone, which can damage it and is less precise. Hallmarks such as “22K916” are a useful guide, but the tested result is what counts.
Net gold weight
The piece is weighed, and anything that isn’t gold — stones, beads, wax fillings, lac or enamel — is not counted as gold. That’s why two items of the same total weight can be worth quite different amounts.
Rate and deductions
The value is worked out from the tested purity, the net weight and the rate applied, less any applicable deductions. Each of these is explained to you. See the gold rate in Bangalore for how rates work.
Why valuations differ between buyers
Different buyers may test purity differently, count weight differently or apply different deductions. The headline rate is only part of the picture. If you have a quote from another buyer, bring it — we will walk you through our valuation so you can compare line by line.
No obligation
A valuation does not commit you to anything. You can accept the offer, compare it with others, or take your gold home. If you decide to go ahead, you can sell your gold, or, if it is pledged, see pledged gold release.
